In line with her previous works, the series Bouche delves into the artist’s family intimacy to probe the boundaries between the monstrous, the mundane, and the desirable. Fragments of bodies, striking close-ups of mouths, remnants of decomposed meals, altered skins, enigmatic still lifes, and indeterminate gelatinous materials are featured. Drawing inspiration from the reflections of Julia Kristeva and Barbara Creed on abjection and the monstrous feminine, these inquiries highlight the representation of bodily fluids as a central element. They embody what escapes the social framework. Through these representations, at times unsettling, disturbing, or enticing, Bouche seeks to explore the borders between the pure and the impure, the beautiful and the repulsive. This questioning of traditional classifications paves the way for a new perspective: one where alterity is renewed, and the monstrous becomes a source of fascination and contemplation.
